Volunteers & Friends at Regional West Recruiting Volunteers

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb., – Do you want to make a positive impact in your community? Volunteers and Friends of Regional West offers many opportunities for women, men, and young adults to be of service to others.

Learn how you can become a hospital volunteer at the volunteer recruitment open house Jan. 31 at Regional West. Hosted by Volunteers and Friends of Regional West, the event will be held in the Regional West Education Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

By volunteering you can make a big difference in your own life and the lives of others, helping to make our community a better place. When you volunteer you create connections, meet new people and see old friends, get real-world experience, and have fun. Individuals that are interested in volunteering should have a positive attitude and enjoy helping others.

Regional West volunteer Hans Petersen of Scottsbluff is glad he answered the call to volunteer. “I found out that I could fulfill this need to the hospital and patients that pass through the doors of the hospital and clinics. I enjoy the patient interaction and my time as a volunteer at North Plaza,” he said.

At Regional West, volunteers staff hospital information centers and the surgery waiting room; deliver patient mail, magazines and flowers; buy for, manage, and clerk in the Gift Shop; volunteer at the immunization clinic, Cancer Treatment Center, and the Breast Health Center; and provide clerical, non-clinical, and/or technical support for a number of departments.

“I volunteer because it is important to give back to our communities in some way and also because it is good for me to be active and interact with others,” said Julia Meisner of Gering, a Gift Shop volunteer and treasurer of the Volunteers and Friends organization.

Another long-time Regional West volunteer, Jaci Aue of Mitchell, volunteers because she likes to serve the community. “I love to be at the admissions desk. I get to see lots of people that I know from over the years,” she said.
